On February 1, 2024, at the initiative of the Department of State Policy in the Field of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, a working meeting was held on the implementation of systems to counter unmanned aerial vehicles at transport infrastructure facilities.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Department of Transport Safety of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, the Federal Air Transport Agency, Rostransnadzor, the Public Council under the Ministry of Transport of Russia and Sheremetyevo Airport.
The welcoming speech was made by Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy in the Field of Civil Aviation Andrey Ivanov and the head of the Public Council under the Ministry of Transport of Russia Tatyana Gorovaya.
During the discussion of current problems, it was proposed to strengthen interaction between the experts of the UAV WG and the Department of Transport Security in the field of eliminating existing regulatory barriers, as well as, jointly with the Federal Air Transport Agency, to conduct full-scale tests based on one of the airfields. At the suggestion of representatives of Rostransadzor, as part of the ongoing pilot project, Sheremetyevo Airport will supplement existing transport security plans in terms of countering UAVs, and will also, on its own initiative, develop a standard vulnerability assessment methodology and a standard threat model.
The meeting participants noted the high importance of the work being carried out and the need for consolidated interaction between all participants to develop the most effective solutions for the entire transport industry.
